I recently came upon this picture from my trip to Greece & Turkey in 2004. We were entering the grounds of the Haiga Sophia in Istanbul when I saw these funny animals. If you look closely you will see that the dog is on the roof and the cat is on the ground.

Downtown Winthrop
River Run Inn
Scenic Highway 20
Thursday we headed up the North Cascades Highway to Eastern Washington for our destination in Winthrop. The drive over was spectacular. The mountains, rivers, dams, and lakes were all so beautiful. One of our stops was at Ladder Creek Falls located behind the Gorge Powerhouse. The water fall was pretty cool, the way it has carved out the rock around it. Looked like a natural water slide.
Dad’s 60th
My Dad officially turned 60 on Tuesday and we got to celebrate with him. It has been many years since we have celebrated a birthday for him, this year was extra special.
We spent the late morning in Fairhaven, eating at our favorite sandwich shop Avenue Bread for lunch. The walk along the water afterwards was cut short due to a heavy rain shower. That evening we treated our parents to Herb Niemann’s, formerly the Black Forest in Everson. They are well known for their great steaks. My Dad even ate a steak being a vegan or as he calls himself, a vegavegecarnitarian 🙂
Monday Visits
We stayed Sunday night with Lamar, Cathy & Brittany. The following day we said our goodbyes then headed to Portland to see more family. We visited Dave & Rexine in the morning and Grandpa & Grandma for lunch. We left there for Olympia where we had dinner at a Thai place called The Lemon Grass with Todd’s Mom & Tom.
Any picture I am in is not from my camera, thankfully my Dad takes lots of pictures like me. Actually, I take lots of pictures like him 🙂
Potluck
Last Sunday we drove over to Lamar & Cathy’s beautiful place in Warren for the family get together and potluck. Lamar is my Dad’s middle brother. It was great to see family on both sides I haven’t seen in years.
The foot in the vehicle is my Dad’s fake foot he’s been using for many years to have fun with family & friends 🙂
Dean & Beth’s
On Saturday we stayed with my aunt & uncle in Canby. They live in the country next to a private airstrip where most of the neighbors have small planes. Although they do not personally own a plane, my uncle has worked with aircraft for many years. After dinner we walked around the neighborhood and found lots of cute farm animals. Their neighbors down the lane have adorable sheep and a sweet pony named Claire.

Train Ride
Todd & I took the train to Portland for the weekend. My family was a having a reunion/get-together for my Dad’s 60th birthday and we wanted to be there. After an hour delay we finally boarded the train and had a very relaxing ride on Saturday. Between the Nintendo DS & Pandora on the iPhone, we were set. My parents picked us up in Portland then drove to Dean & Beth’s place in Canby, OR. Dean is my Dad’s youngest brother. We stayed the night then headed to Warren, OR the next day for the party.
