For our homeschooling unit we grew and studied five Painted Lady butterflies. Ada waited patiently for the caterpillars to change into chrysalides and then finally emerge as butterflies. We enjoyed them indoors for a couple days then set them free. The first one fluttered quickly out of the habitat and away but Ada was able to gently handle the remaining butterflies.

Grampa & Gramma’s
We had a nice, but extremely short 4 day visit with my parents. The last full day together was spent walking around Fairhaven. I forgot my camera, so I just have a few from my phone but it was a gorgeous day (80’s)! Had lunch at Avenue Bread, walked along the boardwalk, then back for Acme Ice Cream. We ended the day feeding chickens at a beautiful garden nursery. The chickens roam freely and the nice ladies give the kids chicken feed.
The first few pictures are launching the water bottle rocket at the park with some friends after Ruby’s birthday party. We got it to go pretty high and the kids loved it!
Ruby turned the big “1” on Saturday, April 16th. We had a small party attended by my parents and a couple close friends with kids. We enjoyed bunny themed cupcakes, snacks, and opening gifts. Ruby received some pretty cute clothes and a beautiful blanket/quilt Gramma Friesen made for her.
Ruby cried a little when we sang “happy birthday”, but she sure did enjoy eating her entire cupcake!
Ruby is getting close to walking this month, but not quite sure of herself yet. She enjoys food, kisses, bath time (especially with big sis), and clapping her hands. She is pretty fun to have around 🙂
The girls had fun finding their eggs this year. Ruby got to find a few empty ones in the grass while Ada had several hidden around the yard. The playset was a great new spot to hide eggs this year. We also read through all the Resurrection Eggs in one sitting. Ada has fun opening each egg to reveal part of the Easter story. The last egg is empty because, praise the Lord, Jesus is risen!

I caught Ruby playing with the toilet paper roll and sampling some of it. She loves paper! Here is Ada when I caught her playing with toilet paper as a baby 🙂
She loves…
Ruby has been pulling herself up and then letting go for a few seconds. She will also walk with us holding her hands, and sometimes with only one hand. Ruby is developing her personality more and more. She loves to giggle but she also loves to scowl ( and cry). She doesn’t quite trust everyone yet 🙂
