1 Month

I decided to reuse the month-by-month onesies and fabric from Ada’s first year photo shoots to compare Ruby’s growth. I was also gifted 12 months of stickers which I thought would be fun to use and include Ada.

Ruby definitely has a reddish tint to her hair in the sunlight, but overall it’s light brown in color. She is a pretty good sleeper and had a few nights of over 8 hours in a row. She goes back and forth just when I think I can sleep through the night 🙂

Here’s a link to Ada’s 1 month to compare.

Water Rocket

A couple weeks after Ruby was born Todd and Ada built a 2 liter-bottle rocket. Ada picked out the colors and designed the base. The bottle started out shooting about 6 feet up into the air but after a few weeks of fine tuning, it got up to about 40 feet.

The neighbor kids had fun helping and watching the initial testing of the rocket. I did not get any more pictures of the launches, but Todd has a video he’ll post on Facebook 🙂

Family Visit

It was wonderful having family here and all the help and support received from them during and after Ruby’s birth. Cindy cared for Ada while we were in the hospital and then a couple days after she left, my parents came to town. They stayed with us for almost 2 weeks. It was so nice having them all here to help with Ruby, chauffeuring us to doctor appointments, and keeping Ada company. My parents were here for my birthday too, which made it extra special this year.

Ruby Ann

Our sweet little Ruby came into this world on April 16th at 8:10 am, weighing in at 9lbs 5.5ozs and measuring 20.5” long. She had the chubbiest cheeks and a full head of hair!

Even though we had a c-section, the nurses told Todd he could stand up and announce the sex of the baby, which he clearly stated “it’s a girl.” I was so excited…I was hoping for another girl and a sister for Ada. Todd also got the best picture of Ruby born in that moment.

It was fun when Todd called Ada (who was at home with Grandma Cindy) to tell her the news. At first he said she was quiet, then she giggled and then Cindy said she danced around the room. Ada was so happy to have a sister!

28 Weeks

Ok, people have been asking for a very pregnant me and belly shot (or was it just the belly shot?)… well, here you go 🙂 I guess I am actually 29 weeks now, but close enough. I am tired and ready for the baby to be here. I move at a turtle’s pace and ache everywhere. I used to run 20 miles a week, now I can barely walk around the block without sciatic, belly and back pain. Fun times…only a few more weeks to go! 🙂

Praise God, the baby is doing well thus far. Heart rates have been good at Dr. appointments and the earlier ultrasounds have all been normal. He/she moves a lot! It’s like a dance party in my belly. Whether I’m walking, sitting, standing or laying down…lots of movement. Pretty sure more than Ada moved around.

My little helper was great. She took the pictures of me via the iPad/camera on tri-pod and I think they turned out pretty good. The iPad is a little cumbersome to try to hold yourself, but it’s nice to see the image before snapping away. Ada might be a budding photographer…or she will resent me for life with all the pictures I make her take 🙂

It was very muddy down by the river, we both slipped a few times and I almost ate it (thankfully no one saw it)! Ada had fun playing in the muddy sand before heading home 🙂 It was also a fairly warm afternoon that day (like 60 degrees), unusual for January.

Birthday Princess

A few more pictures of the birthday princess/diva/goof ball on her actual birthday 🙂

We later picked up Todd from work and visited a park, the touch pool at the Marine Life Center and then out for dinner at Fiamma Burger downtown.

Ada gets really shy at her parties to blow out her own candle, so this was another attempt after dinner all by herself…and she did just fine. Funny girl.

Ada’s 4th Birthday

A few weekends ago we celebrated Ada’s 4th birthday with a party of friends her age. The kids had lots of fun playing games, opening gifts and eating cupcakes.

She wanted a girly Hello Kitty theme, so we incorporated lots of colors since half of her friends were boys. I bought a couple Hello Kitty cutter shapes to make the cheese, crackers, and cucumber designs. Waaay too much work for 3 & 4 year olds, but they were cute to say the least. Cindy also came up to help and be part of the fun/chaos 🙂
