22 Months

Ada is growing like a weed, a very tall weed. She is off the charts for height and at this rate will be taller than Todd as an adult. Hopefully it will slow down a little 🙂 She is talking more and more as to be expected and loves to help when she can. Ada has been saying “that sound?” whenever she hears something new or is curious. She also has the sweetest singing voice, especially when she sings Jesus Loves Me.

Ada was a big help when getting our Christmas tree this year. She found the prefect tree from the map and even helped Todd cut it down. She then got to ride in the cart all the way back to the car with her prized tree. The next day, after mom decorated, Ada decided to rearrange (multiple times) the lower-half ornaments her way and now the tree is perfect 🙂

Working on Hawaii pictures…should be up before next summer 😉

Ada’s Tricycle

A neighbor gave us this old tricycle for free and I thought it could be a fun project to repaint. It was a little fun, but mostly tedious with removing decals, sanding, priming and waiting for paint to cure 🙂 I still may add embellishments, like streamers or some body detail, but for now this is how it turned out. I also debated painting the wheel rims, but they were not going to come off easily, so they remain white.

I completely forgot to take a before picture before Todd disassembled it so I had to improvise a little and piece it back together without the nuts and bolts. You get the idea 🙂

21 Months

Oops, these were the only pictures I had left for her 21 months post (she is 22 1/2 months now), taken over a month ago before Halloween 🙂

Ada is starting to say more phrases and understand consequences. One example is how she knows what happens when she falls down. She often says “careful, fall down, bump head.” She loves containers and sorting coins, pom poms and other small objects. She seems to know the colors green and blue (sometimes purple) but often defaults to green for other colors too. She knows patterns and shapes like polka dots, hearts, and circles. She is learning numbers and knows when there are 2 of something.

About pictures: we all participated with Ada’s pumpkin this year. Ada cleaned it out, I carved the face and Todd roasted the yummy seeds! Ada had a lot of fun pulling out the pumpkin seeds and getting her hands all slimy. I usually enjoy this part too, so next year I may need to get my own pumpkin 🙂

Apples

A couple weeks ago my friend Jessica and I, along with our two little ones, spent an afternoon at Bellewood Acres apple orchard. Apple picking tends to be an annual tradition for us and a fun one! Though sans husbands & Jimmy this year, we still had a great time picking Jonagolds and ending with a yummy lunch at the bistro.

Ada & Owen loved riding in the golf cart to go get the apples but had a hard time deciding who should drive (parked of course!) 🙂

20 Months

Ada continues to be a joy (and a challenge! :)) as she develops her character, interests and skills. We are amazed by her memory and learning names of people, animals, etc. We love how she recognizes and says things like “raining outside” and remembers there was once a frog in a flower pot (she ribbits) even after several weeks had past. She loves Elmo and enjoys repeating “happy to see you” every time he says it. She also has the sweetest singing voice and usually does it when we ask now.

Ada’s Great Grandma, lovingly known as GG, made these sweet little tops for her. She was just able to fit into them by the end of summer, but should continue to work for fall. Thank you GG for your thoughtfulness!

Creative Play

Over the summer I tried a few outdoor activities with Ada that involved flour, flavored gelatin, and finger paint. I found the ideas online which were considered safe for little ones to do (especially for my taste testing toddler).

She had fun playing in the flour and then eventually dumping it into the grass and wiping it on herself and on me. She enjoyed the gelatin too, squishing it between her fingers and then eating most of it. I found a recipe for corn starch finger paint, since I knew it would go in her mouth. It was a good idea except for the food coloring which stained her hands for a couple days.

Now I need to find activities for indoor play this winter so we (I) don’t go nuts 🙂

19 Months

Ada is more like 20 months, but who’s counting 🙂

Ada is one energetic little girl. She may take a short break for sesame street, lunch and a nap, but on a normal day she prefers to play, run, play, and run some more. She increases her vocabulary on a daily basis and has learned to jump with both feet off the ground. She started saying her name too. She alternates saying Ada and “I” when she wants to do something. Ada loves slides, preferably the taller, scarier ones and does not want help going down them 🙂

These were taken after the zoo, enjoying ice cream on a hot day!
