Woodland Park Zoo

Another fun adventure with our van crew. The kids enjoyed petting goats, finding pretty birds, and eating ice cream 🙂

Cougar Mountain Zoo

One of our many summer adventures was a visit to a lesser known zoo on the outskirts of Seattle. We rode down with a group of friends and had a really fun time seeing the animals and getting to hand-feed a few of them.

Northwest Fair

This year the girls just wanted to ride the rides. We spent a short amount of time viewing animals and the rest of the time watching the girls enjoy carnival rides.

Goat Farm & Haleakala Crater

Our last big excursion with Tom & Cindy was driving up to Haleakala National Park. Along the way we stopped at a goat farm where the girls enjoyed petting and feeding a few goats.

The crater was beautiful for about 3 minutes, then the clouds rolled in and we couldn’t see a thing. It was also extremely cold and windy, so we didn’t last too long outside with the girls.

Ulua Beach

This was our other favorite beach for snorkeling, swimming, and exploring the beautiful resorts.

Ada also enjoyed trying out my camera, although we learned my best lens was broken and would not focus properly.

Kealia Pond

One morning we drove to Kealia Pond to visit the walking trail and visitor center. The facility had a nice interactive display for the kids and a path along the ponds. It was a hot day so we didn’t stay out on the trail very long, but we did see a few bird species such as the Hawaiian stilt, Hawaiian coot, egrets, and white-faced ibis.

Reptile Zoo

Back in August the girls and our good friends visited the Reptile Zoo. The kids had a blast looking at all the unique reptiles and amphibians. They got to pet turtles and hold a snake (me too). Ruby even got the alligator to try to eat her through the glass after trying to give him kisses 🙂

Pumpkin Patch & Halloween

Had another fun year at our neighbor’s family pumpkin patch. The kids love the activities and horse rides. We enjoy the wagon ride too. Ada was allowed to pick any pumpkin this year, she chose a 35lb one. Lots of fun to carve! The girls enjoyed Halloween dress up and getting lots of candy 🙂

Fair Day

This year I took the girls to the fair all on my own. It was a bit challenging with Ruby, but we managed to see lots of animals and they had lots of fun exploring. Ada ran into a friend from church and was able to ride several rides with her while I kept Ruby busy. She really enjoyed the small animal experience and tractors this year 🙂
