30th

Something about turning thirty was tough this year. I know thirty is young because I feel young (except for my creaky knees) but still, I think I have a right to feel hesitant about getting older 🙂 I think the weeks leading up to my birthday were worse because the actual day was not too bad. It was rather nice and I got to spend it with my two favorite people! I also received some beautiful flowers from family & friends.

We had a hard time getting Ada to look at the camera, she was sooo fascinated by the sushi conveyor belt. I was fascinated too (it being my first experience) but I did manage to look at the camera 🙂

So Long Mosey

For those of you who followed the tales & adventures of Cheesecake and Mosey that chapter has now come to a close. Mosey joined Cheesecake in greener pastures a few weeks back for some new adventures. They will be missed.

A few old pictures when they were both young and spry 🙂

6 Years

On Saturday Todd & I celebrated our sixth anniversary. It was a beautiful sunny day so we headed to Bellingham for dinner and a walk. We originally wanted sushi but they were not open for a couple more hours and because we had Ada with us we decided not to wait. We ate at Hearthfire by the bay and it was yummy too. Ada did very well in the restaurant and daddy even let her drive afterwards 🙂

Birthday Boy

This morning Ada & I met Todd for some yummy donuts at Rocket Donuts in Bellingham. The shop is decorated with a fun retro sci-fi theme, hence the robot picture. It was fun to get out and celebrate with Todd, even for just a few minutes with a hungry, fussy baby 🙂

Mouse Trap

Not to confuse you with the game, this is the real thing. We had a mouse living in our house for who knows how long. We heard chewing under the cabinets in our kitchen last week and finally saw the mouse one evening (under the dishwasher). Further inspection revealed the mouse had visited other parts of the house.

Todd, after getting a few ideas online, created an ingenious live trap to catch the little critter. It involved peanut butter, a cardboard box, a wooden ramp, a coat hanger and some water bottles.

Well, it worked and I found the little guy sitting in peanut butter staring up at me at 4am (I was up for a snack too). I transferred him to another container complete with fabric scraps, cheese, oatmeal and water. I have a soft spot for rodents you know.

Later that morning I found the perfect place to set him free, the field behind Ed & Julie’s house! I know they enjoy having a mouse or two in their house so it worked out. Ha, actually I took him to the park (across the river from the Balls) and let him go. He leapt out of the box like no tomorrow and hid under some leaves.

Good riddance (peanut butter covered) Mickey!

The mouse runs up the ramp into the water bottle tube to get the peanut butter. Once at the end, the off balance tips the tube up so the mouse cannot get out.

Ball Game

Saturday we spent the day with a few Logos employees watching the Mariners vs. Twins. Mariners lost 1-0. Not a very exciting game.  Todd’s work paid for a suite and it was pretty sweet! We had a buffet of food, which is great for a pregnant lady and comfortable padded chairs. I am not normally a baseball fan, but I could get used to it if every game were this way 🙂

I Am Loved

I was completely shocked when Todd came home with a box containing a Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L lens the other day.  I was not expecting that at all…or ever. I was thinking about what I was going to do for our Australia trip coming up in three weeks, I figured my cheap 55mm lens would have to do. Thanks again for those of you who pitched in to make it possible (early B-day present). I am loved and I love all of you! Now I just need to build up the hand/arm strength to hold the sucker. 😀

1. The robin picture was cropped quite a bit but I was impressed by how sharp it still looks.

2. & 3.You can see that the sparrow is still pretty sharp after cropping from the picture above it.

4. Just a budding branch of a tree, not cropped.

5 Years

Today is our five year anniversary which also landed on Good Friday. I am so grateful for a loving husband and a loving Savior who died to give us life. Without Christ in our lives Todd and I would have never met!

We spent most of the day doing yard work. I pulled my back earlier this week shoveling mulch, but I was able to help a little. We ripped out tons of Lily of the Valley which had decided to take over our flower beds. We still have lots more all over our yard, so if you want some you can come dig it out before we get to it 🙂

We also had dinner at our favorite Herb Niemann’s steak house, it was delicious as always! You have to try the Cajun Sirloin if you like a little heat.

I’ll have pictures of the yard when we are done, for now you get to see our goofy faces!

The Big 30

Todd is officially three decades old today! He is one amazing guy and I am so blessed to be a part of his life. If you get the chance wish him a Happy Birthday!

Here are few pictures taken before his guys night on Saturday.

Fins, Feathers & Fair

Here are a few more pictures from the day. They are a little out of order but I wanted to let the otters & seals have their own post.

Oh, and Fair is in reference to the 1962 World’s Fair for which the Space Needle was built… I was racking my brain for another appropriate word that started with F 🙂
