An Apple A Day

I must really be at a loss for words, I am posting pictures of an apple 🙂 Have you noticed it’s been almost 2 weeks since my last post? Probably not, but I have! I’ve been busy with life and forgetting to take pictures along the way. The busyness is due to the wonderful friends in my life. I am blessed to be surrounded by so many good people! So for now, I hope you enjoy this apple and anything else I decide to post because I am feeling very random.

The Tide is High

I am not quite done with my vacation posts, but I wanted to share what our weather is doing up here. First off, our place does not have it bad (yet!) compared to other parts of the county.  Most of the major roads are closed due to flooding. I drove by (at a higher level)  several vehicles with the water line up to their hoods and a front door of a house only a couple inches away from water entering it. Pretty crazy!

We could flood since we are close to a river, but I hoping that does not happen. At 2:30 when I took these pictures, our deepest spot was about 8 inches, it’s been raining non-stop since. I heard about 15 years ago people were rowing around town, we should have taken that inflatable boat my parents offered us 🙂

Below is a stitched together picture of our new backyard pond! *Click to view larger.

Blogging Block

Hi Everyone! I have been really stuck lately in what to post. I have not been taking very many outside pictures cause it’s cold 🙂 I guess I could do indoor photos, but it’s been too dark…I need natural light for indoor shots 🙂 I have also been somewhat busy hanging out with my neighbor and watching her cute kids several times a week. I am so thankful for friends! Oh, with Thanksgiving coming soon, what are you all doing? We have been invited to join a couple from our church and their family. I am looking forward to it and eating stuffing and mashed potatoes! Happy Thanksgiving!

The picture is from a winery I visited with a friend near Seattle last weekend.

Golden Girl

I have a few more pictures to share that I took for class. These were taken of a sweet Golden Retriever that Todd & I spent a weekend with. We were at a house with our Christ Group friends for a couples retreat. The doggie ended up being a perfect subject for shutter speed experimentation.

Light Show

I played with a slow shutter speed for my photography class (which is now over) and these are a few examples of what I got. The blue pictures are from a small LED keychain and the white is from a flashlight. Todd drew most of them which is hard to do. He is very talented, don’t you think? 😀

Tea Time

It’s that time of year again when I desire to drink something hot just to stay warm! Since I don’t know how to make coffee at home (I’m pretty sure Woods Coffee & Starbucks do) I make tea. I am a little bit (but only a little bit) embarrassed to say I use tea bags. I know I know, tea bags from the grocery store, what am I thinking. Someday when I have used them all up I will buy loose leaf. Until then, I will enjoy my leaf powder that comes in such neat little bags … and … some even have strings 😉

Randomness

I was playing with baby… I mean camera today, taking a picture here and there. Playing with scrapbook paper backgrounds when I decided to take a picture of me. I never take self portraits and I debated about posting one of the ones I took. Wow, I have a lot of freckles…must have been all that sun this summer 🙂  If you can get past my unruly eyebrows, I kind of like the photo and that’s saying a lot!

The cupcake is chocolate, chocolate chip with peanut butter frosting, pretty good for vegan. I also like sheep, black sheep in particular, dunno why 🙂

New Toy!

My new camera arrived on Monday and I have had fun taking pictures ever since. Keep in mind these are all test shots, I hope I will get better with lighting once I take my class. After that I will have no excuse for bad photos 🙂 They are also unedited in RAW format…incase you wanted to know…I know you did 🙂

Tuesday night I picked Todd up at work for a dinner date. Before we left, his co-workers wanted to play with the camera for a bit. The guys took the first 3 photos, they look good!

The food photos were taken at Anthony’s Restaurant off Bellingham Bay. I was impressed that the majority of the pictures turned out even in dim lighting and with no flash! The dinner its self was pretty good, I had alder smoked salmon which was yummy. Afterwards we walked around the harbor and ran into the cutest cottontail bunny. The one posted of the bunny is not the cleanest shot, but he looked adorable posing for me. I would have never been able to get a clear shot of him with the light I had to work with and my old camera (way to slow).
